A1 — French Foundations (OF01 to OF12) builds essential workplace French for Canadian public servants. Learners develop confidence with talk-first practice, clear grammar mini-steps, pronunciation routines, and progress tracking to transition into A2.
🌱 A1 — French Foundations
OF01 → OF12 50 lessons 3h each Individual or Group Talk-first (70–80% speaking) DÉCLIC ORAL checkpoints includedStart speaking French with confidence — even as a true beginner. A1 builds a strong base for everyday workplace interactions: asking simple questions, understanding answers, confirming time and location, and handling basic office tasks.
“I started as a true beginner. The structure and the DÉCLIC classes helped me remember what I learned. I can now ask questions in meetings and confirm time and tasks in French.” — Public servant, Canada
A1 follows the PFL2 objectives from OF01 to OF12. It is designed for Canadian federal public servants and supports a smooth transition into A2.
• Public servants who need basic workplace French: greet, ask, answer, confirm, and follow up.
• Learners who want to build confidence before test-focused preparation.
- Basic workplace confidence: greet, introduce yourself, and stay in French longer.
- Essential questions: where/when/time/how many — and clear answers.
- Office basics: meeting, email, files, simple tasks, deadlines.
- Pronunciation habits: calm pace, “two takes” strategy, clearer times/numbers.
- Simple writing: 2–3 lines (mini email) with a clear message.
| Outcome | Example task |
|---|---|
| Confirm a meeting | Ask where/when/time; confirm the plan. |
| Handle basic follow-up | Send a short mini email with time/deadline. |
| Ask for help | “Please repeat / more slowly” (stay in French). |
Consistent 5-step structure (A1-1 → A1-5): warm-up + vocabulary + mini-grammar + guided production + wrap-up. Pronunciation is integrated every lesson. Progress is documented in a Summary Report.
After each objective block (OF), we run a DÉCLIC ORAL class: a special 3-hour consolidation lesson (with a different format) that breaks routine, strengthens pronunciation + grammar, and makes progress visible.
• Pronunciation clinic (Q↑/A→, numbers/times)
• “Grammar gym” (simple, useful rules)
• One mini video activity (variety + fun)
• Progress becomes visible (mini-wins)
• Better retention through repetition
• Motivation boost before the next OF block
These special lessons help you retain what you learned, boost motivation, strengthen pronunciation and grammar, and confirm progress before moving on.
A1 builds the base. A2 increases confidence and autonomy. A3 develops fluency and precision.
